It was in January 1997 when R H Morton undertook the first contract with the Colquhoun family and introduced the top quality Charvet 800 Series into Scotland with a new “Front of House” facility to service this popular and constantly developing hotel and restaurant on the banks of Loch Lomond.
Since then Niall Colquhoun has spearheaded the development with a brand new build for weddings and events with 22 new rooms, a swimming pool, treatment rooms and function facilities, where Morton’s designed a function kitchen, preparation downstairs section with walk-in chills and a service bar. Once again, Charvet was the choice for the cooking suite with a Convotherm 10:10 and Alto Shaams to meet the needs of the wedding business. With Morton’s own manufactured Ceiling hung gantries, heated and refrigerated plating up area and chilled “Jackstack” storage provided a successful workflow
The Main Kitchen was a long time in the planning for a complete redevelopment since walls needed to be moved and the twenty years old front of house area incorporated into the one space. The hotel closed for almost 3 weeks in December 2016 and a new kitchen built and fitted out, albeit using the best of existing kit.
The Contract included the walls and floors and once more, Charvet, Winterhalter, Adande Drawers and Gram Refrigeration were favourites with a new Morton Ventilation Canopy, Fire Suppression system and full fabrication to provide good Wash-up, Preparation, Pastry, Cooking Suite, Pass and Stills area.
The Installation was finished on time (absolutely crucial with Christmas) and on budget and a shining example of customer loyalty and complete supplier commitment. It could not have been achieved without the leadership of Sales Director, Mark Rodden who put in tremendous effort with the Service staff and tradesmen of R H Morton and all the team involved in working together to meet the deadline.
